How it Works
Appellation ensures quality in each phase of the complex art of wine transport. Contact us for a quote and we’ll get back to you that same day. We’ll quickly determine what your needs are, whether that is a full-service pack of your collection in Appellation’s custom-built wine cases or a straight-forward pickup from your home. Once we’re under contract, one of our professional wine handling crews will pick up your wine in a climate-controlled vehicle, transport it back to one of our climate-controlled warehouses, and wrap the boxes on their dedicated pallet for long-distance freight.
If you need an inventory of your collection, we can handle that for you as well. Once your pallet has arrived at the delivery-area warehouse, our crew on that end will retrieve the wine and deliver it to your home cellar in the exact same condition as you last saw it. Every step of the way is carefully controlled at 55°. The care and safety of your wine is Appellation’s highest priority and we pride ourselves on making the entire process stress-free. Packing the Wine
If you need your wine packed during your wine move pickup, Appellation’s crews of wine handlers provide the finest white glove service in the industry. Appellation packaging - we offer both stand-up and lay-down wine cases - is custom-built with double corrugated cardboard to protect your wine in the most stable and protective cases available.
Inventory
Appellation’s inventory specialists can perform bottle-by-bottle inventories of your collection - either on-site in your cellar or at one of our wine storage facilities. We work with all of the major wine inventory software systems and can also create system-neutral spreadsheets that can be imported into whatever software you employ.
Warehousing
When your wine is in our hands and facilities, you never have to worry. Appellation has climate-controlled partner warehouses all over the country, able to cross-dock and store your wine for as long as you need between pickup and delivery. Every warehouse specializes in wine and is carefully vetted for state-of-the-art refrigeration systems.
Long Distance Freight
Wine moving is handled most efficiently, and most safely, with pallet-based transport, regardless of whether you are moving just a few states away or cross country. Appellation works with the most reputable wine-specific freight companies in the country. All of their trailers and hub warehouses are climate-controlled at 55 degrees. Through this network of carriers, Appellation can provide a full range of LTL (Less-than-Truck-Load) and FTL (Full-Truck-Load) freight services, fully insured from end to end.
Wine Storage
Appellation can provide long-term climate-controlled wine storage in every region in the USA. Our trusted nationwide network of fully vetted wine storage facilities and climate-controlled warehouses are prepared to store your wine for as short or as long a time as you need while your wine move is in process.

Making a Difference
Appellation Wine Transport is a team of dedicated and meticulous folks led by Tommy Borden. Tommy knows wine transport and handling as well as anyone in the industry, having personally handled every aspect of hundreds of wine moves, from packing to freight, warehousing to white glove delivery. When you contract with Appellation, Tommy will take you through the entire process himself from the initial quoting phase to your final delivery.
Tommy lives in Portland on a vibrant urban farm with his amazing wife and two daughters. He also plays bass in two local Portland bands – Rick Real & The Warmth and Ian & The Deep Sheets.
